A couple of days ago I posted a photo (on Facebook) of the mess going on across the river beside us. Here's an update of what's going on and causing all the noise pollution.

From the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority

In Harriston work is getting underway to remove trees from the banks and floodplain of the Maitland River. This work will be done downstream of the Arthur St. bridge.

The purpose of the tree removal is to reduce the impact of debris jamming around trees during high river flows. The roots of the trees will be left in place and efforts will be made to minimize disturbance to ensure the banks remain stable.

This work is is expected to be completed by mid-April.
